Beaches :

Thai beaches, such as those of Phuket and Krabi are world famous, and little wonder. The term 'island paradise' is bandied around a lot when it comes to destinations, but when nature plays a hand like this, it seems to be the only description that fits. From the luxurious sands to the inviting ocean waters and the stunning scenery that frames it all, you'll find coastal Thailand irresistibly perfect and with a surprise around every corner.

Phuket and Krabi are just two of the highlights of the west coast, sophisticated and modern beach resorts with a fine tradition of hospitality. Phuket boasts the stunning Phang Nga Bay and the shady escape of jungle walks, whilst Krabi enjoys the awesome rock formations that tower above you as you swim.

The east coast has equally desirable destinations. The islands of Koh Samui and Koh Phangan have been joined by Koh Tao as a popular lure for sunseekers, whilst the mangrove swamp of Koh Chang offers a verdant getaway for the more reclusive.

Hua Hin is another beach highlight. A coastal town with winding streets, you can really lose yourself as you watch the brightly lit fishing boats on the Gulf of Thailand. It's the oldest beach resort in the country, and its tradition of providing a haven to those who seek it remains irresistible to this day.

A much more lively affair are the beaches at Pattaya, a sandy playground on the east coast with all the facilities of a big city coupled with the most enjoyable aspects of beach life. Pattaya exudes a sense of fun and is arguably the most cosmopolitan place in the country next to Bangkok.

Health & Spa :

Thailand's spas blend perfectly into their natural surroundings, with pools that seem to stretch out into the sea, and treatment rooms that are secreted away in lush tropical jungle. All the latest treatments are available at spas up and down the country, whether you're in need of some intensive massage or just some time unwinding in the jacuzzi.

Jetlagged new arrivals and wilting partygoers can revive themselves as they lie in the elegantly appointed rooms. All five senses are brought to life with aromatic smells of lemongrass, relaxing sounds of running water, sips of jasmine tea, beautiful orchids to look at and the feeling of total relaxation.

There's nothing artificial or forced about the romantic nature of Thailand. Everything you can enjoy, from the finest service and cuisine to the ultimate in pampering and lavish relaxation, to the smiling faces of just about everyone you'll meet - it all just happens naturally.

Shopping :

No matter where you are in Thailand, there are simple rules to help you enjoy the best of what the country has to offer. Inside department stores, the prices are fixed, but in most other places, especially the markets, bargaining is expected. Go into the bartering with a sense of humour, patience and a smile, and you can enjoy a friendly battle of wills with the stallholder. You can usually expect from ten to forty percent off the price, depending on the shopkeeper and, of course, your own haggling skills. Be polite and friendly and you will come to love this very interactive shopping experience!

As well as Patpong, Bangkok has many famous shopping areas, from the browser's paradise of the Chatuchak Park Weekend Market to the Aladdin's Cave of the gemstones on the Silom-Mahesak-New Road. Silom-Surawong-Patpong is the commercial heart of the city. There is also a wide range of shopping malls to shop til you drop in open everday from 10am til 10pm. Outside the capital, there are further plentiful opportunities for stocking up on souvenirs. Famously, Chiang Mai remains the focus of a huge handicraft and fabrics trade, and people flock to pick up anything from traditional hilltribe clothing to fabulous silks, to lacquer accessories and tapestries.

Diving :

The most popular dive destinations are concentrated in the Andaman Sea off Phuket Island, home to arguably some of the best dives you could hope to find. Koh Similans, Burma Banks and Koh Surin are widely regarded as the most impressive areas.

In the Gulf of Thailand around Pattaya and Sattahip (east) and Koh Samui (west), there are equally awe-inspiring dives to be had. And easily reachable from Koh Samui is Koh Tao, one of the best dive sites in this area. Diving gear is readily available for hire, and there are any number of professionally-taught courses to introduce the uninitiated to this dazzling sub aquatic pastime.

Golf :

You can play golf all season round, in comfortable temperatures and in beautiful surroundings. The courses are often linked to some of the most desirable resorts in the country, so your stay will be relaxing and luxurious, no matter how you perform on the fairways!

Royal Hua Hin, built in 1924, is the oldest golf course in Thailand. Par-3, 18-holes with a beautiful temple in the background and majestic views of the Gulf of Thailand. Visit the exclusive 36-hole Blue Canyon Country Club in Phuket, twice host to the Johnnie Walker Classic and often voted best championship course in Asia. Hire probably the cheapest caddies on earth!

Take on the courses in and around Bangkok, or head out to the tranquil beaches such as Hua Hin, home to the oldest course in the country and a truly idyllic destination for both golfing and relaxation.
